What do you charge? |

For this example, I'm going to use a wedding, but the
sentiment applies to all important events, proms, homecomings, school
reunions, birthday parties, corporate events, etc. What do you charge?
That's the first question many brides ask when hiring a DJ for their
wedding reception. The question they
should be asking is: What am I getting for my money? If you're looking for a disc jockey to show up for a few
hours with a box of CDs and some big speakers, then you should probably shop
around for the least expensive DJ you can find because, honestly, it doesn't
take much talent or experience to plug in some speakers and press play. But professional wedding disc jockeys do a
whole lot more than that. A common mistake that brides make is to treat the DJ as
a product and not a service. It is
most important to realize that your wedding DJ is a service provider and, as
with any service, you often get what you pay for! Your DJ is the single most important factor
in determining the success of your reception! Your wedding DJ should meet with you personally weeks
ahead of time to plan the music and events for your ceremony and
reception. With his vast musical
knowledge and experience, he is able to suggest just the right music and
timeline of events to complement your taste and style. On your wedding day, you DJ is
your reception coordinator and master of ceremonies. He oversees your reception insuring that
all reception events from Grand Entrance to Final Dance occur just as you
requested. Using his skill to read the crowd, your wedding DJ knows
what music to play and when to play it to keep the party going. The success of your ceremony and reception ultimately
depends on how well your DJ performs all of these services, not on the size
of his speakers or CD collection. Food for thought: |
